Barfwatch 2005: Day 25

Posted on February 25, 2005 by Tito

The barf watch marches on. I recently recommended Tim O’Brien’s Going After Cacciato. So, I thought I’d hop on Amazon to see what others wrote about it (always a dodgy proposition, I know), and came across this nugget [emphasis mine]:

The story is a war-fiction. It takes place in three parts: first is the war itself, Paris, and the Observation Post. I would definetely[sic] reccomend reading this book. I’m not going to ruin the ending, but Tim O’Brien is today’s M. Night Shyamalan.

Not that I wish to begrudge Mr Shyamalan, I just find this comparison akin to calling Joy Division today’s Interpol. I’ll overlook that O’Brien is a novelist and Shyamaln writes screenplays.
