Music To My Ears

Posted on May 20, 2005 by Tito

1. The person (or persons) who passed the baton to you.
Jeff at Syntax of Things – no doubt drowning the sorrow of a Braves sweep in the sweet, sweet elixir of music and internetting.

2. Total volume of music files on your computer.

Hmmm… my files are scattered to and fro, but I would guesstimate a couple thousand tracks / ~500 CDs worth.

3. The title and artist of the last CD you bought.
Okkervil River – Black Sheep Boy. Maybe this weekend I’ll catch up on my to get list: Decemberists, Mountain Goats, Neva Dinova

4. Song playing at the moment of writing.
Bob Dylan – I Threw It All Away

5. Five songs you have been listening to of late (or all-time favorites, or particularly personally meaningful songs)
Ted Leo/Rx – The Ballad Of The Sin Eater
(or any TL song. He’s coming to Bimbo’s & Bumbershoot!)
Park Ave. – All Boy Band
(something about this band that wasn’t to be that sticks with me.)
Bright Eyes – We Are Nowhere And It’s Now
(How long can Jeff stand the BE before going postal?)
Neko Case – I Wish I Was The Moon
(possibly my favorite song ever)
Elton John – Mellow (It was either this or Crocodile Rock. OK, maybe not.)

6. The five people to whom you will ‘pass the musical baton’
- Dave (BMK helping hand who tuned me into Dios)
- Ed (NIN?)
- Rake (He had me at WG and the Maad Circle)
- Jodi (What is the Westerberg over/under?)
- Rico (the brother)
- BMK Bonus!! – whoever else wants to leave a note in the comments.

    4. Link Wray, “Jack the Ripper.”

    Top notch stuff…

4- Song on right now is “You made me forget my dreams” by Belle and Sebastian

5- highly rotated toons as of late? let’s see….

    a. Every planet we reach is dead – The Gorillaz
It’s got this wonderful groove to it, goes well w/ a first cup of coffee in the morning.

    b. In a radio song – Okkerville River
This track recently climbed to the top of “lazy rainy day songs”.

    c. I predict a Riot – Kaiser Chiefs
Kinda fun and mischevious, it’s a good getting read y to go out type song…

    d. Song Against Sex – Neutral Milk Hotel
Another song in my morning get-up and go routine. get’s my butt in gear…

    e. You look like I need a drink – Against me!
Warning: Bicycling/running while listening to this song *will* make your heart explode. Driving punk that just keeps reving up.
