It’s A Write-Off

Temporary exemptions extended to Katrina victims1 are expiring, so many are now facing mortgate and other payments they’ve temporarily been skirting. Thanks to the foresight of our government, we won’t have to worry about freeloaders getting a free pass any longer. Just don’t let Elizabeth Warren dissuade you with her commie rhetoric:

…Wait long enough, and no one will care. In the case of the bankruptcy laws, this is a particularly apt approach. After all, if there were special relief for people who were victims of hurricanes, what about victims of cancer?…

I wouldn’t worry, this is Bush’s top concern:

Throughout the area hit by the hurricane, we will do what it takes, we will stay as long as it takes, to help citizens rebuild their communities and their lives.

Comforting words, to be sure.

1A memorably egregious “motivational speaker” that addressed our high school kept bludgeoning us with her mantra “there are no victims, there are only volunteers”. So you see, Katrina – uh – volunteers merely got what they asked for.
