Alterior Motives?

The fine MP3 blog gorilla vs. bear alleges (leagal mumbo-jumbo? for “calling bullshit”) that the music blog http://musicglob.com/ is not “legit”. The main reasons being suspicisous disclaimers & terms of use along with awkward writing. Sounds a lot like pitchfork, to me. [Assume Vin Scullly voice] What’s interesting to note here is, that the blog is guillty because it’s motive is to promote some label’s artists. If that’s different from selling ad space, it ain’t by much. Of course pitchfork will actively assault you with their ads and gvb is actively trying to sell ad space as well. Whether or not that makes them tools of the man is for you to decide. Maybe advertising considerations affect the pages content and maybe it doesn’t. I submit that money is not the only way a blogs integrity could be compromised, but it’s probably the easiest to follow. This, of course, is only problematic if you ever assign integrity to a blog in the first place. If we were talking about a submarine’s integrity, fire the alarms I say (write)!
As my good friend Axl Rose once declared. “They’ll never catch me, cuz I’m fuckin’ innocent”. Same as it ever was.

One Response to “Alterior Motives?”
I don’t know how I just found this now when all of this was over quite a bit ago, but hey whats up.
Basically sure my awkward writing sucks, but also I don’t really consider myself an indie music blog or whatever every other somecoolindiename.blogspot.com is. I don’t really claim to be anything but just write about the music I like. Oh yeah then there is being a kinda proish blogger and having a good design and some google ads to earn booze money. (which I thought would be an addition to the music blog “scene” to have a proish looking blog)
As for promotion of artists by labels, aparently nobody likes “the man” but everybody likes the music “the man” puts out. I guess I suck for not realizing that fact when I was writing about bands that somebody was promoting.
Either way, you have a good blog and I thought I’d write some words since I just fell upon this.
