Friend o mine Ed Champion reviews Haruki Murakami’s Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman @ Philly.com.

Last night I caught the Silver Jews in my first trip to the Mezzanine. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome … despite a boorish antic-laden performance by the opening bands singer (who came off as Iggy Pop as played by Ben Stiller — and all the badness that implies). The highlight of a highlight-filled show, was “New Orleans”. So…… Gooood…… Surprise of the night: the band dined at The Stinking Rose the night before (?!?!). I also enjoyed Bermans “banter”, in particular his musing that Metal bands must see a “silver lining” when being “plagued by technical problems….Medieval”. Hopefully their next tour isn’t as long in coming.

Pinky (of Paperhaus fame), brings us the Hollywood Insider info on filming a scenee from The Mysteries of Pittsburgh.

YANP has MP3s from Ted Leo’s August 25th South Street Seaport show.
