Spurred by Thomas Pynchon (and Mark Twain), the folks at Language Log ask for your favorite prescriptivism in literature.

Gwenda leads the way to an NYT piece by Jonathan Safran Foer about the relationship he shares with his dog. Which is as good excuse as any to recommend Jose Saramago’s The Cave, if only for the well-done portrayal of the dog characther, Found.
