Merv Griffin’s Crosswords?

Posted on September 9, 2007 by Tito

Apparently the target demographic for Merv Griffin’s Crosswords is the same as Sunday Night Football viewers. Who knew? This is the first I’d heard of it and just set up a Tivo season pass for the new game show (premiering tomorrow). I don’t have very high expectations for this show. just. doesn’t. feel. right.
But I’ll give it a go.

thanks for this heads up. I divo’d it. It was ok–I like how you can totally piggy back off the big money winner and steal it away in the end. Might be fun to try out for it to see if you can win a grand. But ultimately I think I’d rather just do a puzzle than watch the show.

You’ve mentioned the reason that I find the show completely “broken” — a spoiler can do nothing the whole game, then swoop in with one right answer and take all the money. It was a particularly glaring flaw in Friday’s game in which a great player did all the work and got completely screwed. They really need to rethink the gameplay.

We found this show very interesting. It could be complicated at times. but eventually, we would get the knack of it.
